Volunteers

Volunteer roles

We are looking for volunteers to support us as:

Mentors

Volunteers will mentor young adults, providing guidance, support, and encouragement as they navigate their careers. Mentors may offer career advice, share their own experiences, and help mentees set and achieve goals.

Fundraising and Grant Writing

Volunteers with fundraising experience can help identify funding opportunities, write grant proposals, or assist in organizing fundraising campaigns and events.

Technology and IT Support

Volunteers with technical skills can help maintain and troubleshoot computer systems, software, and online platforms used for program delivery.

Workshop Facilitators

Volunteers will lead workshops on topics related to career development, such as resume writing, interview skills, job search strategies, and soft skills training.

Event Volunteers

Assist in organizing and running events, conferences, or workshops hosted by "The Career Spot." This may involve registration, logistics, and event coordination.

Language and Communication Support

Volunteers who are bilingual or multilingual can assist in communication with participants who speak different languages, improving accessibility.

Research and Data Analysis

Assist in gathering data, conducting research on best practices, and analyzing program outcomes to improve program effectiveness.

Career coaches

Career coaches will work one-on-one with program participants to help them identify their career goals, develop action plans, and provide ongoing support throughout their journey.

Administrative Support

Volunteers can help with administrative tasks such as data entry, organizing documents, managing emails, and handling phone inquiries.

Peer Support

Peer mentors who have previously participated in "The Career Spot" programs can offer peer support and guidance to current participants.

Community Outreach

Volunteers can engage with the local community, schools, and businesses to build partnerships, raise awareness, and recruit potential participants.

Volunteer responsibilities

As a program volunteer we ask that you:

  • Attend all programs for which you are scheduled to volunteer and arrive on time for each activity.
  • Contact us ASAP if you are unable to attend a scheduled program.
  • Be hands on! Assist in adapting and get involved in the program!
  • Be a role model. Avoid bad language, name-calling, hand holding or other public displays of affection during our programs.
  • Follow instructions of the program staff.
  • Provide feedback to the staff by discussing areas of confusion or concern and completing evaluations.
  • Above all, HAVE FUN! The Career Spot is a place to make new friends, and learn new things.

Registration process

  • Our team will review your registration form and get in touch with you shortly after you submit the form to discuss your interests and skills.
  • We'll match you with a volunteer role that aligns with your preferences and our current needs.
  • You'll receive an orientation to familiarize yourself with our organization, programs, and policies.
  • We'll coordinate your schedule and provide any necessary training.
  • Throughout your volunteer experience, we'll be here to support you every step of the way.
